How to Make Clarified Butter (Step-by-Step)
Step 1:
Cut the butter into cubes. Place in a heatproof bowl over a saucepan of water (bain-marie). Melt slowly without stirring over low heat.
Step 2:
Once melted, skim off the watery foam that forms on the surface using a spoon.
Step 3:
You’ll be left with a rich yellow fatty layer—this is your clarified butter.
Step 4:
Place a fine mesh strainer lined with paper towel or gauze over a clean bowl. Strain the clarified butter to remove milk solids.
Step 5:
Line a mold or small bowl with cling film. Pour in the clarified butter. Place in the fridge and let it solidify for a few hours.
Step 6:
Once solid, remove from the mold and use as desired.
